The Honda Company got its start manufacturing motorbikes in 1946.  The founder of the Honda Corporation is Soichiro Honda.  Their first automobile was not really a car; it was a small pick- up truck called the T360. The first car had rear wheels that were chain driven. It was named the S500.  Honda has come a long way since those first days.  Now they make some of the most popular cars in the world.  They are the sixth largest vehicle manufacturer in the world.  Of the three car companies in Japan they rank second.

Because of the way their factories are set up they can retool to manufacture whichever vehicle is the most popular.  They already have the main body of their fleet in small and mid- sized vehicles which is where the most demand is seen.  Their cars are already giving the consumer great fuel economy so they could be poised for further growth.

The most popular models that Honda produces are the Accord and the Civic sedans.  They do have several other models that can be used as family cars such as the Fit, Insight and the minivan Odyssey.  They are branching out into Hybrids and Alternate Fuel Vehicles as well.  The CRV and the Pilot are two of their four wheel/all wheel drive automobiles.

Honda Accord has consistently won top honors; it comes in a four door sedan and a two door coupe.  The Accord comes with three choices for horse power and all of them are fuel efficient. One of them is a 3.5 liter V6. Because of Honda’s Variable Cycle Management technology the engine only uses the power it needs. This saves on gas while giving the driver acceleration when needed.  The Accord has a five speed manual transmission or a five speed automatic. They have integrated a Grade Logic Control with the automatic transmission that helps when traversing hilly terrain.  The Accord is luxurious with leather interiors and the latest in technology.

The Honda Civic gives you six different styles to consider.  The classic Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe with two doors, the Civic Sedan and Coupe Si, the Civic Hybrid Sedan and the Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle.  Some of the features of the Civic are leather trimmed interiors, navigation system, five speed manual transmission or five speed automatic.  There is a choice of engine sizes just like the Accord.  The Civic is sportier but can still be enjoyed by families.  The introduction of the Hybrid and alternate fuel will offer an even bigger savings at the gas station.

Safety has always been something that Honda has been known for.  Their body structure allows for absorption in an impact and all the seat belts are 3-point.  Airbags protect each passenger, not just the ones in the front seats.  The anti lock brakes, stabilizing systems and day running lights also assist in keeping you safe on the road.

With such a great reputation and the large choice of vehicles Honda is one of the leaders in the industry and will no doubt be for many years to come.
